Welcome to Owl & Quill Publishing Services (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), owned and operated by Scott Wise. By accessing this website or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use this website or our services.

1. Services Provided

Owl & Quill Publishing Services provides freelance publishing support services, including but not limited to:

  • Manuscript preparation

  • Book composition and interior formatting

  • Front and back matter formatting

  • Print-ready file preparation

  • eBook conversion

  • Publishing assistance and consultation

​​Services are provided on a project-by-project basis according to individual client agreements and quotes.

2. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate project details and manuscript materials

  • Ensure submitted content is their own or properly licensed

  • Review all proofs carefully before final approval

  • Communicate revisions clearly and promptly

The client is solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and ownership of all submitted content.

3. Intellectual Property Ownership

Clients retain full ownership of their manuscripts, text, images, and intellectual property.

Owl & Quill Publishing Services does not claim ownership of any client content.

Upon full payment, final formatted files created specifically for the client are delivered for the client’s use in publishing and distribution.

4. Payment Terms

Payment terms are determined per project and outlined in the client quote or invoice.

Standard payment terms may include:

  • Projects under $500: Full payment upfront

  • Projects over $500: 50% deposit required before work begins

  • Remaining balance due upon project completion

Final deliverables will be released only after full payment has been received.

Late payments may delay project delivery.

5. Pricing and Additional Charges

Quoted prices are based on the manuscript’s page count, condition, and complexity.

Additional charges may apply for:

  • Extra pages beyond quoted limits

  • Images or photo placement

  • Tables, charts, or diagrams

  • Footnotes or endnotes

  • Complex formatting requests

  • Significant post-approval revisions

Any additional charges will be communicated before work proceeds.

6. Revisions

Reasonable revisions related to formatting errors or agreed-upon deliverables are included unless otherwise stated.

Revisions requested after final approval or involving substantial design changes may incur additional fees.

 

7. Turnaround Times

Project timelines vary based on:

  • Manuscript length

  • Complexity

  • Current workload

  • Client response time

Estimated delivery dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed.

Delays caused by incomplete submissions or delayed client feedback may affect turnaround time.

8. Final Proof Approval

Clients are responsible for reviewing all final proofs before publication.

Approval of final files confirms acceptance of formatting, layout, spelling, grammar, and content.

Owl & Quill Publishing Services is not liable for errors discovered after final approval.

9. No Guarantee of Publishing Success

Owl & Quill Publishing Services provides formatting and publishing support only.

We do not guarantee:

  • Book sales

  • Bestseller status

  • Publishing acceptance

  • Market success

  • Platform approval by third-party distributors

Success depends on many factors outside our control.

10. Refund Policy

Due to the custom nature of publishing services, completed work and deposits are generally non-refundable.

Refunds, if any, are determined solely at our discretion based on project status.

11. Confidentiality

All manuscripts, documents, and client materials are treated as confidential.

We will not share, distribute, or reproduce client materials without written permission, except as necessary to perform requested services.

12. Website Content

All content on this website—including text, graphics, branding, logos, and service descriptions—is the property of Owl & Quill Publishing Services unless otherwise stated.

Unauthorized copying or reproduction is prohibited.

13. Limitation of Liability

Owl & Quill Publishing Services shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential damages

  • Lost profits or lost sales

  • Third-party platform rejections

  • Printing issues caused by third-party vendors

  • Client-submitted content errors

Use of our services is at the client’s own risk.

14. Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Abusive behavior

  • Fraudulent activity

  • Illegal content

  • Violation of these terms
